FCBD® Style Foundations – 8-Week Session

Take your first steps into the beautiful world of FCBD® Style in a welcoming, supportive environment.

This eight-week series is designed specifically for beginners, introducing the foundational movements, posture, musicality, and improvisational language that make FCBD® Style so unique. Each class builds upon the last, allowing you to grow in confidence while becoming part of a vibrant dance community.

FCBD® Style & Tamarind Tribal – 8-Week Session

Continue your dance journey by exploring the rich traditions and evolving artistry of FCBD® Style and start to layer in Tamarind Tribal. Together we’ll build on strong foundations while exploring new movements, combinations, and shared improvisation.

Each 8-week session meets once a week for 60 minutes, building on the skills learned in Foundations while introducing new concepts, combinations, musicality, and creative expression. Every series offers something different while remaining rooted in the collaborative spirit of FCBD® Style.

Every session explores a different theme or area of focus, giving returning dancers new opportunities to grow while continuing to strengthen the shared language that makes FCBD® Style so unique.

Drop-in classes are a wonderful way to experience the Project HipSlingers community, refresh your skills, or fit dance into a busy schedule.

Drop-ins are welcome for select classes when space allows and when the class level is appropriate for your experience. If you're unsure whether a class is the right fit, we'd be happy to help.

  • Not at all! Our FCBD® Style Foundations session is specifically designed for beginners. We'll guide you step-by-step through posture, foundational movements, musicality, and the shared improvisational language that makes FCBD® Style so unique. All you need is curiosity and a willingness to learn.

  • New to FCBD® Style? Start with our Foundations session. If you've previously studied FCBD® Style or Tamarind Tribal, we'd love to help you find the class that's the best fit for your experience. Feel free to reach out if you're unsure—we're always happy to help.

  • FCBD® Style is a unique form of modern tribal belly dance built around Synchronized Group Improvisation (SGI). Rather than memorizing choreography, dancers learn a shared vocabulary of movements and visual cues that allows the group to create dances together in real time.

  • Drop-ins are available for select classes when space allows and the class level is appropriate for your experience. Because many of our classes build on previous material, we recommend reaching out before attending your first drop-in.

  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely. Bare feet are welcome, or you may wear soft dance shoes if you prefer. Hip scarves and dance jewelry are fun, but they're never required—we're happy to help you build your dance wardrobe over time.

  • We believe dance is about more than steps. It's about community, confidence, creativity, and connection. Whether you're taking your very first class or continuing your dance journey, you'll find encouragement, laughter, and a welcoming circle of dancers who genuinely want to see one another succeed.
